Open Ai 4o and the Ghibli Meme

If you haven’t seen it yet, you haven’t been on the internet lately. Meme’s and photos recent to historic reimagined in the Studio Ghibli art style. Literally everything from adorable cats to the ‘I definitely could have lived without that image in my life.’ and the straight why did you do that. But also some really great things like a Ghibli version of Lord of the Rings I didn’t know I needed.

While I won’t be sharing any of the inappropriate ones. Here’s a few favorites.

If you want to join in the fun, it may be too late. Many have said the feature has been removed while others say it works if you’ve got access to Sora. When I tried to myself (Without Sora) with our Anime Maryville Mascot it replied that it couldn’t do that and instead suggested I go use Fotor Studio Ghibli Filter. A bit of an odd reply – but I gave it a try anyway. Here’s what it gave:

It’s definitely not as good as the ones OpenAI was putting out. In fact it looks like it found a screen shot of Nausicaa and tried to trace over it, but I suppose it’s still cute. Then again Hayao Miyazaki, the guy whose style everyone’s mimicking with this, is on record saying Ai “is an insult to life itself”. So there’s that.
